What it does

The bill stops members of Congress from buying individual stocks. Their spouses and dependent children also cannot buy stocks. Members must give 7 to 14 days notice before selling stocks. They pay a fine if they break the rule. The bill requires voters to show ID at federal elections. States can accept a notarized form or a provisional ballot instead.

Who it affects

Members of Congress and their families face new stock trading rules. Voters must show ID or use an alternative to vote. States must set up ways for voters to get ID copies.

One thing to notice

The bill combines two separate rules into one law. One rule is about Congress stock trading. The other is about voter ID.
