What it does
This bill changes how money is split when states catch Medicaid fraud. Right now, the federal government keeps 90%. States keep 10%. The bill raises the state share to 25%. This change applies to all fraud cases after the bill becomes law.
Who it affects
States gain more money from fraud cases they win. The federal government gets less of that money. Medicaid and taxpayers are affected because the federal government funds about 60% of Medicaid.
One thing to notice
The bill does not require states to spend recovered money on Medicaid. States can put the money into their general budgets instead.
