S. 465 — GRID Power Act
What it does
This bill directs the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to create new rules allowing electric utilities and grid operators to prioritize certain power generation projects in the interconnection queue—the waiting list for new power plants to connect to the grid. The bill specifically prioritizes 'dispatchable power' (power plants that can reliably produce electricity on demand) over other types of generation, and requires utilities to demonstrate that prioritization will improve grid reliability before FERC approves it.
Quorum's transparency scan gave GRID Power Act a high transparency warning.
