S. 3738 — MORE WATER Act
Water Resources
What it does
The MORE WATER Act authorizes $1.7 billion in federal grants (2028–2032) for water infrastructure projects in western states, including large-scale water recycling, conveyance systems, and environmental restoration. Projects must meet cost-sharing requirements (50% federal for most projects, up to 50% for multi-benefit projects serving low-income drinking water or environmental goals), and the bill deauthorizes inactive Bureau of Reclamation projects that have received no funding in 8+ years unless Congress, the Secretary, or a non-federal sponsor intervenes.
