What it does
Chatbot companies must tell users they are talking to a bot. Companies must warn users before they use chatbots for big decisions. Big decisions include medical, legal, and money choices. Chatbots must spot when users are in crisis. They must send those users to the 988 Suicide Lifeline. Users can ask companies to delete their chat history. Companies cannot use tricks to keep users talking longer. Companies must report serious problems to the FTC and NIH each year.
