What it does
The bill tells the President to build and launch 24 new GPS satellites faster. It upgrades the ground systems that control GPS. It adds new signals called L5 and L1C to make GPS harder to jam or fake. The Department of Defense and Department of Transportation must report progress within 180 days. They must report again every year after that. Federal agencies and companies that run power grids, banks, and transportation systems must work together. They must fix weak spots in GPS.
