What it does

The bill permits artificial intelligence to find relevant law in arbitration. It can organize documents, file materials when facts are clear, and make final decisions. Both parties must agree in writing. A party that agrees to use AI gives up the right to challenge the award. The party cannot challenge based only on AI errors. Generative AI is not permitted.

Who it affects

Parties in arbitration who agree to use AI assume all risk. A party harmed by AI legal analysis cannot challenge the award. Arbitrators and AI systems gain more power while parties lose recourse.

One thing to notice

The bill does not require disclosure of what AI was used. It does not say how the AI was trained or what it recommended. The bill permits AI uses beyond legal research if one party deems them necessary. The other party must agree. The bill does not define what counts as generative AI.
