What it does
The bill tells FERC to set a rule about the best wires for power lines. Power companies must use these wires when they build new lines or fix old ones. The rule checks how much power the wires carry. It also checks how well they work and how strong they are. Some projects can skip this rule if it costs too much money. Projects can also skip it if there is a safety problem or if work already started.
