What it does

This bill tells every state to look for fraud and waste in Medicaid each year. States must find problems and make plans to fix them within 90 days. States must tell the federal government what they find. The Secretary of Health and Human Services must write rules by January 2027. The Secretary must also tell Congress what the nation finds.

Who it affects

Medicaid recipients and taxpayers benefit when fraud and waste go down. States must do the work and pay for it. Managed care companies that run Medicaid plans must be part of the checks.

One thing to notice

The bill says a new federal system must start by October 1, 2029. The bill does not explain what that system is or how much it will cost.
