What it does
The bill makes it easier for kids to join WIC. WIC helps poor families buy healthy food. Kids can now join if someone in their home gets Medicaid, CHIP, or Head Start. Kids can also join if someone gets food help on tribal lands. Kids can join if someone gets help in Puerto Rico or the Northern Mariana Islands. States can use papers they already have instead of asking for new income proof. Newborns whose mothers are in WIC join right away. Kids stay in the program for two years instead of one year.
