What it does
The bill bars colleges that get federal money from letting pro athletes play college sports. Athletes cannot compete in the same sport where they hold a pro contract. College coaches and staff who recruit these athletes commit a federal crime. The punishment is up to 5 years in prison. It is up to 10 years if done for profit or repeated. Athletes can cancel pro contracts before getting paid or playing. Athletes already competing under both contracts can finish this school year.
