What it does
This bill makes Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans pay for mental health crisis help. TRICARE, VA, and CHIP must also pay. Crisis help includes mobile teams, crisis beds, and walk-in urgent care. Crisis beds watch patients for 23 to 48 hours. Medicare pays 80% of costs. Medicaid must pay for these. Private plans must pay without extra charges. Changes start 3 years after the bill passes.
