What it does
This bill requires Medicare to create separate billing codes for lightweight wheelchairs made with titanium or carbon fiber, allowing suppliers to charge patients the difference between Medicare's standard payment and the actual cost of these premium materials. Starting January 2026, patients who want lighter, more durable wheelchairs would pay out-of-pocket for the material upgrade, while Medicare covers only the base payment amount.
