What it does
This bill amends the Indian Health Care Improvement Act to extend the notification deadline for emergency medical claims from an unspecified shorter period to 15 days. When an American Indian or Alaska Native receives emergency care from a non-Indian Health Service provider (e.g., a private hospital), they now have 15 days to notify the IHS of the treatment so the IHS will pay for it, rather than facing an earlier deadline that could result in claim denial.
