Renewable Energy

What it does

This bill establishes a federal program to fund geothermal energy demonstration projects in regions where geothermal power is currently absent or underdeveloped, using milestone-based financing to reduce upfront costs and risk. The Department of Energy will award competitive grants to projects that generate public data on new geothermal resources, prioritizing projects on or near tribal lands and those with potential for 30+ megawatts of capacity, with requirements to fund at least 3 different projects across at least 3 different states.
