Privacy & Civil Liberties
What it does
This bill amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act to require credit-data resellers—companies that buy and resell consumer credit information—to follow reasonable procedures to ensure the accuracy of information they pass along to other businesses or resellers. It also shields resellers from liability if they accurately transmit information they received from another credit agency, even if that original information was wrong.
Quorum's transparency scan gave Fair Credit Reporting Reseller Accuracy Act a high transparency warning.
