What it does

This bill directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to establish task forces within 90 days to develop technical standards and guidelines for identifying and labeling AI-generated content across audio, video, and text. The task forces will work on watermarking, digital fingerprinting, and metadata systems to help consumers and platforms distinguish human-created from AI-generated content, with reports due to Congress annually for five years.
