S. 4116 — Geo POWER Act
What it does
This bill establishes a federal program to fund next-generation geothermal electricity projects in regions where geothermal energy is currently absent or underdeveloped. The Department of Energy will award competitive grants and innovative financing (loans, guarantees, or other financial instruments) to geothermal demonstration projects that meet technical milestones, prioritizing projects in new geologies, on or near tribal lands, and those likely to attract private investment. The goal is to reduce the financial risk of early-stage geothermal exploration and generate public data to support future private geothermal development.
Quorum's transparency scan gave Geo POWER Act a moderate transparency flag.
