What it does
This bill requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to analyze every bill reported out of committee and flag whether it creates new federal programs, offices, or initiatives that duplicate or overlap with existing ones already identified in GAO's annual duplication reports. The GAO must publish these findings on its website and send them to the Congressional Budget Office, which may include them as a supplement to its cost estimate for the bill. The goal is to give Congress better information about whether new legislation is creating redundant government structures.
