H.R. 184 — Action Versus No Action Act
What it does
This bill requires federal agencies to consider only two alternatives when evaluating forest management projects on timber-suitable lands: either proceed with the proposed activity or take no action. It eliminates the requirement to study multiple management scenarios (e.g., different harvest levels, alternative restoration methods, or phased approaches) that environmental law normally demands. The bill applies to projects developed collaboratively, proposed by resource advisory committees, covered by wildfire protection plans, or designated under the Healthy Forests Restoration Act.
Quorum's transparency scan gave Action Versus No Action Act a high transparency warning.
