What it does
This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allow shark attack alerts to be sent through the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system—the same system used for tornado warnings, amber alerts, and other public emergencies—within 180 days of enactment. Currently, shark attacks are not an authorized category for emergency broadcast alerts.
