What it does
This bill modifies federal recycling regulations for lithium-ion batteries by changing which EPA storage and handling rules apply to recycling facilities. Instead of following one set of universal-waste storage rules, destination facilities (recycling centers) must now follow a hybrid set of requirements—some stricter rules that apply to large-quantity waste handlers, plus one rule for non-storing facilities. The bill also updates a reference in an older battery law to point to current EPA regulations.
