What it does
This bill requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to establish regional joint boards composed of state utility regulators and FERC staff to study best practices in electric load forecasting—the process utilities use to predict future electricity demand. The boards will examine how forecasting affects affordability, reliability, data transparency, and accuracy, then report recommendations to Congress within one year. States must then consider adopting these recommendations under existing utility regulation law (PURPA). The joint boards dissolve after submitting their report.
