What it does
The KIDS Act directs the federal government to study how chatbots affect children's mental health, requires the FTC to run a public education campaign on internet safety for minors, establishes a temporary Kids Internet Safety Partnership to identify best practices for protecting children online, and creates educational resources about chatbot risks. It treats violations as unfair trade practices enforceable by the FTC and state attorneys general, but explicitly protects encryption, Section 230 immunity, and law enforcement cooperation.
