What it does

The bill stops the federal government from giving tax breaks to large AI data centers. It also stops federal grants to them. Large means 100 or more megawatts of power. Large also means at least 50% AI chips. The bill puts a 100% tax on data center companies that get state or city money.

Who it affects

People may pay less in taxes overall. But people might pay more for electricity. People in areas that want data centers for jobs may be hurt.

One thing to notice

The bill only stops new data center deals. It does not stop deals that already happened. States might try to give data centers money in other ways.
