What it does

This bill changes how extra pay is figured for workers who get stock grants. Stock grants are company shares workers earn over time. The bill says stock grant value does not count in base pay. Extra pay is based on base pay. Companies get legal protection from lawsuits for 90 days after the law starts. Protection lasts longer if the program already existed or has a union contract.

Who it affects

Workers who get stock grants and work extra hours are hit hardest. This includes hourly and salaried workers at companies that give stock grants. Workers earn less for extra hours when stock grants do not count.

One thing to notice

The bill cuts extra pay by removing stock grant value from the math. Companies cannot be sued for past underpayment for 90 days after the law starts.
