What it does
The bill lets the President ban foreign people and companies from using U.S. money and property. They would be banned if they help build Israeli settlements in the E1 area of the West Bank. It covers contractors, lenders, engineers, and anyone organizing moves to the area. The ban lasts seven years, then stops unless Congress votes to keep it.
Who it affects
Foreign contractors, lenders, engineers, and companies that work on E1 settlement projects. U.S. companies with foreign branches working on these projects could also be affected.
One thing to notice
The President and Treasury Secretary can decide who gets punished without a Congress vote. Companies may have to spend more money checking if their work breaks the rules.
