What it does
This bill gives military families three years to put death money into tax-free accounts. The old rule gave them one year. People who got money since October 7, 2001 can use the new window. People who missed the old deadline can still put money in these accounts. They must act within three years of getting the money. Or they must act within one year after the bill becomes law. Whichever comes later is the deadline.
