What it does
The bill makes the military, VA, Medicare, Medicaid, and private health plans pay for pregnancy help treatments. These include IVF, IUI, and freezing eggs or sperm. Service members and their partners can get these treatments. Marital status and sexual orientation do not matter. Service members hurt in combat can freeze their eggs or sperm.
Who it affects
The bill affects active-duty service members, veterans, government workers, and people with private or public health plans. It also affects people on Medicaid. People will not have to pay out of pocket for these treatments.
One thing to notice
States have up to 18 months to add pregnancy help to Medicaid. Coverage will not start at the same time in all states. The bill does not pay for finding donors. It only pays for the medical treatment.
