What it does
The bill stops stores from selling concentrated sodium nitrite products. These products must have less than 10% sodium nitrite by weight. Sodium nitrite is a chemical that can poison people. The ban does not affect sodium nitrite used in factories, food, medicine, or cosmetics.
Who it affects
Stores and companies that sell concentrated sodium nitrite are affected. Kids and teens are at risk from these products. Factories, food makers, drug makers, and cosmetic makers can still use sodium nitrite.
One thing to notice
The law gives manufacturers and retailers 90 days to comply. The law does not require removal of products already sold.
