What it does

This bill expands a credit check rule. Before, only active-duty armed forces got free credit checks from credit bureaus. Now reserve and National Guard members get them too. The change takes effect one year after the bill starts.

Who it affects

Reserve and National Guard members gain access to free credit checks. Credit bureaus must provide this service to more armed forces members. Active-duty armed forces members keep the checks they already have.

One thing to notice

Reserve and National Guard members will not get free credit checks right away. There is a one-year wait before the rule starts.
