What it does
This bill lets the Attorney General give money to states and tribes. They get up to $2.5 million per year if they have gun dealer licensing laws. States that get money must report each year on inspections and violations. They report how many licenses they gave out, took away, or paused. The Attorney General tells Congress what states found. The bill does not make a federal gun dealer license rule.
Who it affects
States and tribes that set up gun dealer licensing get federal money. Law enforcement agencies in those states can use the money to check dealers. Gun dealers in states with licensing may face more inspections.
One thing to notice
States that do not set up their own licensing do not get money. Those states do not have to follow any federal rule.
