What it does
The bill lets the President tell U.S. money regulators to work toward removing Chinese representatives from major international banking organizations. These groups include the G20, Bank for International Settlements, and Basel Committee. The President can do this if he says China threatens Taiwan or U.S. interests. The President can skip this rule if he thinks it hurts national interests. The bill stops working after 5 years. It also stops if the President says it is no longer needed.
Who it affects
The bill targets China's role in global finance. It may affect U.S. banks and companies that do business worldwide. It could affect Americans through changes in global markets.
One thing to notice
The President only has to notify Congress that China is a threat. Congress does not have to approve it.
