What it does
The bill gives federal money from 2027 to 2031. Fire departments, volunteer EMS groups, and cities get it. They can hire and keep emergency medical workers. They can pay for mental health help, training, and equipment. Each grant lasts three years. Cities must keep spending their own money at the same level. They can spend no more than 75% on new hires in years one and two. In year three, they can spend no more than 35%. Ten percent of all money goes to all-volunteer or mostly-volunteer departments.
Who it affects
Fire departments, volunteer EMS groups, and cities get the money. People in those communities get faster emergency medical help. Better-trained workers serve their areas.
One thing to notice
The bill stops giving money on September 30, 2031. No plan covers what happens after that date.
