What it does
The bill lets parents add $2,000 per year to a Health Savings Account. This applies for each child born or adopted that year. Married couples can split the $2,000 between them. The money counts once per child and only for kids under 18. After 2027, the $2,000 amount will go up with inflation.
Who it affects
Parents who have health savings accounts can save more money for children's medical costs. The benefit only helps families who already have these special plans. Families without health insurance or on Medicaid do not get this benefit.
One thing to notice
The $2,000 amount does not adjust for inflation until 2028. Its value shrinks for families with children born in 2027.
