What it does
This bill makes Medicare check home health companies more closely to stop fraud. Companies must pass stricter screening, get fingerprints taken, carry liability insurance, and pass more checks. Medicare will recalculate what it pays companies. It will leave out claims that look fraudulent. The bill gives $550 million over five years to inspectors. Federal and state inspectors will enforce these rules.
Who it affects
Medicare patients gain from less fraud and waste. Home health companies face stricter rules and more checks. Federal and state inspectors get money to investigate fraud.
One thing to notice
The bill lets the government decide what counts as fraud or extreme risk. There are no clear written rules for this.
