What it does

This bill removes a rule from the CARES Act. That rule required landlords to give tenants 30 days notice before removing them. Now each state makes its own removal rules instead. States can set shorter notice times or faster removal steps.

Who it affects

Tenants lose the federal 30-day notice rule. They follow only state laws, which may allow shorter notice. Low-income renters face higher removal risk.

One thing to notice

The bill removes a tenant rule made during COVID-19. States can still make their own rules stricter, but the federal rule goes away.
