What it does
The bill sets up a new federal office to help states. It makes voting easier for people with disabilities and older voters. It helps Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and people who do not speak English well. States must have websites that work for people with disabilities. States must pick one office to handle voting access. States must let people vote by mail with no reason. States must make polling places physically easy to enter. States must tell voters about voting changes. The bill pays for a national website to help.
Who it affects
People with disabilities, older voters, Native Americans, and Alaska Natives gain easier voting access. People who do not speak English well also gain easier access. States and local voting offices must follow new rules.
One thing to notice
All states must follow the same rules by January 1, 2027. Smaller or rural areas get no extra time even if they lack resources.
