What it does

This bill lets states give Medicaid to young people who were in foster care. They can get coverage until age 26, no matter how much money they make. States must start these programs by January 1, 2027. States must tell young people about this coverage and help them sign up.

Who it affects

Former foster youth get health insurance coverage up to age 26. States must run programs to find and enroll these young people.

One thing to notice

The bill only covers youth who turn 18 on or after January 1, 2027. Young people who aged out before that date do not get coverage.
