What it does

This bill creates a grant program. The federal government gives money to small and rural local governments. They get grants when they elect or hire a person with a disability to office. Grants pay up to $50,000 per year for sign language interpreters, office changes, or tech tools. Local governments must pay 25% of the cost themselves. They must keep funding disability help for at least 4 years after the grant ends.

Who it affects

People with disabilities who run for or hold local office. Small and rural local governments. Taxpayers in those towns.

One thing to notice

The bill gives money on a first-come, first-served basis. This may help some towns but not others. Poor towns may not be able to pay their 25% share.
