What it does
The bill lets owners deduct the full cost of building or fixing up a child care center. They can deduct it in the year it opens. This applies to state-licensed centers built before the end of 2031. Center operators and builders can both use this tax break if they have a binding agreement.
Who it affects
Child care center owners and operators get a tax break. Construction companies and real estate developers may build more facilities. Families might benefit if owners lower their fees, but that is not required.
One thing to notice
The bill does not require operators to pass tax savings to families. The tax break only applies to new facilities, not existing ones bought.
