What it does
This bill tells states to set up computer systems to track two Medicaid services. One is rides for people who are not in emergencies. The other is applied behavior analysis, which helps people with autism. States must have these systems working by January 1, 2027. States that already have computer tracking systems do not have to do this. States that do not comply get 90 days to make a plan. They get one year to finish, or the federal government can punish them.
Who it affects
People who use Medicaid for autism care and rides are affected. States that run Medicaid programs must build or upgrade their computer systems. Small groups that provide rides in rural areas may face higher costs.
One thing to notice
The bill does not say the federal government will pay for the new computer systems. States will have to pay for them.
