What it does
The bill tells Social Security to build a website. People can schedule meetings and apply for pay on it. Social Security must finish the website within 180 days to 1 year. The agency must report to Congress in 3 years. The report covers three things: whether more people applied, whether it saved money, and whether fraud changed.
Who it affects
People whose relatives have died can use the new website to apply for pay. They are already entitled to this pay under current law. The website makes applying easier than going in person.
