What it does
This bill changes the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It lets more loan payments count toward the 120 payments needed for cancellation. Payments on income plans now count even if very small. The standard 10-year repayment plan now qualifies. Months when a person did not pay but worked in public service now count. The Department of Education must tell workers about these changes within 180 days.
