What it does
This bill starts a five-year pilot program. The Department of Education gives money to up to 10 school districts. These districts serve poor areas. The districts use the money to give free school supplies to students and teachers. Each year, the program can give out up to $100 million. Districts must report each year on supplies given out. Districts must also report how many students got them.
Who it affects
Low-income students and families get free school supplies. This cuts the cost for families. It helps kids come to class ready to learn.
One thing to notice
The program ends in 2031, so any help is temporary. The Secretary of Education can decide what counts as school supplies. This might lead to different rules in different districts.
